Disappointment in Victory

I am quite well aware that this makes me sound like a "Traitor to the Cause". I don't care.
The rush of Day One Adopters when any jurisdiction declares that 'mos can get married legally is depressing.

On the one hand, here you have all these people who would have been married long ago, who have been waiting for this day, and are in such a rush to get the thing they wanted that they feel compelled to rush out and snatch it up, lest they be told tomorrow that they cannot have it.  Anyone who doesn't think a person in that condition, regarding anything, is something to be sad about can vacate my multiverse at their earliest convenience thank you.

But then, you have the the fanboy problem. The 'mos who treat marriage like Prada shoes or the latest iDevice: a necessary accessory, an achievement to unlock. The ones who want to get married just so they can say they are married. And then I get sad because they have missed the point altogether.

Either way, it makes me sad.
